Hot ghoul fall, spooky szn, sweater season, cuffing season, whatever you want to call it - it's officially autumn and that means Halloween is almost upon us. If this is news to you 1) get a calendar 2) keep reading to see some easy DIY Halloween costumes that are perfect for 2019. Personally, I love an easy DIY Halloween costume and I love it even more when it's a pop culturally relevant Halloween costume. Here are our ideas for Halloween 2019:
1. Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood:
This one is so easy, you probably have all the pieces you need already. Grab a black turtleneck, white skirt, white boots and a fresh blowout and you are good to go.
2. Johnny and Moira Rose from Schitt's Creek:
This one works best as a couples costume. Schitt's Creek is one of the best shows on TV, and Johnny and Moira are perfectly eccentric and iconic characters that are instantly recognizable to any fan. To achieve this look - Johnny should wear a nice suit with no tie and Moira should wear head to toe black and white, lots of jewelry, and a crisp red lip.
3. Eleven from Stranger Things
Eleven from Stranger Things has been a go-to costume since the show came out. Stranger Things is one of the most watched shows on Netflix, so it's easy to find like-minded fans who will immediately recognize your costume. This season Millie Bobbie Brown's character when through a style overhaul, and the result was some very iconic outfits. Try this one where she wears jeans, a paint splatted button up shirt, suspenders, and a yellow scrunchy. These items should all be easy to find if you don't have them already.
Bonus: Get all your friends together and make this a group costume!
Again, this could easily be a group costume if you can get some friends on board. Euphoria was a brand new hit show on HBO this year and had everyone contemplating whether or not their high school experience was normal. This look of Rue's is the easiest to pull off (and the most comfortable). Layer a tie-dye t-shirt with sweatpants, a zippered hoodie and natural hair to get the look.
5. Marie Kondo
Marie Kondo changed everyone's life this year. She taught us her Konmari method of tidying up and got everyone asking if the things in our lives "spark joy." Her iconic look for her Netflix show is a great costume because even if you have to purchase the pieces, you can re-wear them many times. She wears a simple long sleeve white t-shirt, a pleated skirt, black tights and black pumps. I recommend taking a few photos with the boxes and leaving them behind for your night out.
